# BCG Internship 2027: Programs, Deadlines & How to Apply

*Updated October 2026. By [Dr. Florian Smeritschnig](https://strategycase.com/about/), former McKinsey Senior Consultant*.

A BCG internship is a paid placement on a live BCG case team, and the one you can apply for depends on your degree and your office. Undergraduates and non-MBA master’s students about a year from graduation apply for the Summer Associate role, and MBA students apply for a Consultant internship. Most European offices run a year-round Visiting Associate internship instead. In the US, the summer 2027 MBA deadline is November 10, 2026.

The calendar is where most candidates get caught. BCG’s US undergraduate window for summer 2027 closed on June 2, 2026, at the end of most students’ sophomore year. London takes applications for just over three weeks in January, while Munich, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen hire year-round. Some offices run no internship at all: BCG’s Australian and New Zealand offices hire only full-time Associates, and its US offices take no PhD, MD, or JD interns.

I spent 5 years at McKinsey and since I left I have become a top global consulting interview coach, generating 700+ consulting offers for my clients, 340 of them at McKinsey, BCG, and Bain. Every rule on this page comes from BCG’s own careers pages and job postings, checked on October 19, 2026 on top of my own client coaching experience. Below you’ll find each BCG internship program and who it’s for, deadlines office by office, what interns earn, how the process runs, and how to get an offer.

## **Key Takeaways**

- **BCG’s consulting internship goes by three names.** Summer Associate for undergraduates and non-MBA master’s students (about 8 to 12 weeks, June to August), Consultant intern for MBA students, and Visiting Associate in most of Europe, where internships run year-round for four weeks to six months.
- **The US MBA deadline is November 10, 2026.** US undergraduates can no longer apply for summer 2027: that window closed June 2, 2026, and BCG tells students to check back in mid-spring for the next cycle.
- **Several offices run no internship.** BCG’s Australia and New Zealand offices hire only full-time Associates, Nairobi has no Visiting Associate role, and BCG’s US offices don’t offer internships to PhD, MD, or JD candidates.
- **The online test arrives within the hour.** US undergraduates get the Consulting Career Assessment 30 to 90 minutes after they apply and have 48 hours to finish it, so prepare before you submit.
- **On paper, BCG pays MBA interns the full-time rate.** Its US MBA internship posting lists a $200,000 base, the same as a first-year Consultant, compared with $189,000 at McKinsey and $192,000 annualized at Bain.

## **What Is a BCG Internship?**

**Definition:** A BCG internship is a paid placement on a Boston Consulting Group case team, usually two to three months long. Undergraduates join as Summer Associates, MBA students as Consultant interns, and students in most of Europe as Visiting Associates. Interns do real client work, and BCG treats the internship as a common path to a full-time offer.

BCG’s [careers FAQ](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/work-at-bcg/faqs) says consulting internships typically last two to three months, and some run up to a year depending on the role and location. You join a client team from the start. BCG London describes its interns as fully integrated members of a case team, in a similar way to a new Associate.

Two former interns, now consultants at the firm, describe it on [BCG’s internship page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/internship-opportunities). Tiffany Kaufmann says she was “trusted with meaningful work, including presenting to clients and owning analyses” from day one. Anthony Okolo says the internship meant he felt prepared and supported when he joined full-time.

### **BCG, McKinsey, Bain: Same Titles, Different Programs**

If you’re comparing firms, watch the titles. “Summer Associate” is BCG’s undergraduate internship, but at Bain the same title is the MBA program.

| Firm | Undergraduate or non-MBA master’s internship | MBA internship |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **BCG** | Summer Associate | Consultant intern |
| **McKinsey** | Business Analyst Intern | Associate Intern |
| **Bain** | Associate Consultant Intern (ACI) | Summer Associate |

*Source: each firm’s careers site and job postings, October 2026.*

A search for “BCG internship” also turns up BCG X, BCG Platinion, and business-services internships next to the consulting roles. This guide focuses on the consulting internships and covers the others briefly below.

## **BCG Internship Programs: Which One Fits You?**

Start with your degree, then check whether your office runs that program. The program finder below sums up the paths.

### **The Three Consulting Internships**

| | Summer Associate | Consultant intern (MBA) | Visiting Associate |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Who it’s for** | Undergraduates and non-MBA master’s students, usually in their penultimate year | MBA students between first and second year (advanced-degree students too, outside the US) | Bachelor’s and master’s students; the entry point varies by office |
| **Main offices** | US, Canada, London, South America, Southeast Asia, Greater China, Caspian region | US, Canada, Mexico, South America, Southeast Asia, and others | Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Nordics, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Middle East, South Africa |
| **Length** | About 8 to 12 weeks, June to August (10 weeks, May to July, in South America) | One summer | Four weeks to six months, depending on office and program |
| **How you apply** | One campaign with a fixed deadline | Fixed deadline (US and Canada: November 10, 2026) | Rolling in most offices, with a start date you agree with your recruiter |

*Source: BCG’s [international opportunities page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/locations/united-kingdom/international-opportunities) and office job postings, October 17, 2026.*

The **Summer Associate** role is the undergraduate door in North America and the UK. In the US, that means applying at the end of sophomore year for the summer after junior year. Canada is a little different: its offices usually take summer internship applications in September, about two years before graduation, according to BCG.

The **MBA Consultant internship** is the summer between your two MBA years. BCG’s US application covers 22 offices, closes on November 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. local time, and asks for your top two office preferences.

The office you select is final once you apply, per [BCG’s US MBA page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/on-campus/united-states-mba-job-opportunities). For the MBA cycle across all three firms, see our [MBA summer associate recruiting guide](https://strategycase.com/mba-summer-associate-consulting-recruiting/).

The **Visiting Associate** internship replaces the summer program in much of Europe. You apply when you’re ready, agree on a start month with your recruiter, and intern for anywhere from six to eight weeks (the Nordics) to two to six months (Spain). Germany and Austria take students from the third semester of a bachelor’s, Switzerland from the fifth, and the Nordic offices from the second year of university.

### **Specialized and Non-Consulting Internships**

- **BCG X (US):** Forward Deployed AI Scientist and Engineer internships for master’s and PhD students graduating between December 2027 and August 2028. The deadline is November 17, 2026, with summer hubs in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. BCG calls the program evaluative, so interns can receive full-time offers. BCG X posts similar internships in Germany, the Nordics, the Netherlands, France, Spain, the UK, and the Middle East.
- **Women’s Intensiveship (Germany and Austria):** a four- or eight-week Visiting Associate internship for women, with spring, summer, and autumn 2027 intakes posted. BCG Germany also runs an AI-Ship for students interested in technology.
- **Inverto (US):** BCG’s procurement consultancy posts its own Summer Associate internship in Chicago and Atlanta.
- **Business services:** BCG also hires interns into HR, finance, IT, and other internal teams. These run separately from consulting recruiting.

### **If You’re a PhD, MD, or JD Candidate**

BCG’s [advanced-degree page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/students/advanced-degree) is blunt: its US offices don’t offer internships for advanced-degree candidates. If you’re a PhD, MD, JD, or postdoc at a US school, you have three routes instead:

- **Apply full-time.** BCG’s advanced-degree process is built for candidates who plan to start the year after they apply. Bridge to BCG pairs a full-time application with a workshop before final interviews.
- **Intern in Canada.** BCG’s Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto offices take MBA and advanced-degree students from Canadian and US schools graduating in 2028. The deadline is November 10, 2026.
- **Intern abroad.** Greater China takes advanced-degree interns from North American campuses (deadline November 10, 2026; business Mandarin required), and Seoul runs a June-to-August 2027 internship for them with rolling review.

### **Early Programs Before You Apply**

- **BCG Launch (US and Canada):** a virtual series for undergraduates and non-MBA master’s students. Sessions run from November 9, 2026, to February 17, 2027, and registration stays open until March 29, 2027. BCG notes that signing up is not a job application.
- **BCG Advance (US and Canada):** an invite-only, half-day virtual conference for juniors, focused on women building careers in consulting. Registration for the 2026 edition closed on April 24, 2026, so expect the next one in the spring.
- **OneDay@BCG:** a free online job simulation of a consultant’s day.
- **Office events:** BCG London hosts campus and office events in September and October, and BCG Germany and Austria runs “Unplugged” interview-training evenings, including one for German speakers in London.

## **When to Apply: BCG Internship Deadlines by Office**

BCG doesn’t run one global calendar. Each country sets its own window, and some never close. Here’s the pattern on October 17, 2026, from BCG’s own pages.

### **Americas and Asia-Pacific**

| Offices | Internship | How it runs | Date to know |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |

Two caveats. Many of these windows are BCG’s “typical” timing, so confirm the exact date on the office page or posting. And some postings close early: BCG’s Seoul internship posting, for example, warns that it may close once positions are filled.

### **US Students: Apply at the End of Sophomore Year**

For summer 2027, [Harvard’s career office](https://careerservices.fas.harvard.edu/blog/2026/06/11/consulting-application-deadlines/) listed BCG’s intern deadline as June 2, 2026. A year earlier, [Villanova’s career office](https://connections.villanova.edu/blog/2025/06/03/2026-opportunity-mbb-application-deadlines-mckinsey-bain-bcg/) listed two Summer Associate deadlines for summer 2026 (June 23 and September 3, 2025), plus a separate Sophomore Summer Associate deadline on September 24, 2025. This cycle’s first date came three weeks earlier, and [BCG’s US page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/on-campus/united-states-associate-job-opportunities) now says every summer 2027 internship deadline has passed.

For summer 2028, BCG tells US students to check its Associate page in mid-spring. For every firm’s dates side by side, use our [consulting recruiting timeline](https://strategycase.com/consulting-recruiting-timeline/).

Picture a US sophomore who spends spring semester on grades and plans to start case prep over the summer. By the time they open BCG’s careers site in July, the summer 2027 window has been closed for a month. Their next real shot at BCG is the full-time Associate round a year later, with no BCG internship behind it.

### **Rolling Offices: No Deadline Doesn’t Mean No Rush**

Year-round hiring removes the deadline, not the competition for start dates. The Nordic offices take no July or December starts, and BCG warns that start dates there depend on availability. Brussels says its slots are limited and asks students to get in touch at the start of their penultimate year.

Picture two students at the same Swedish university who both want a BCG internship before their final year. One applies to Stockholm in the autumn and agrees a spring start with the recruiter. The other waits for a summer internship season, which the Nordic offices don’t run, and applies in May with July off the table. Same office and profile, very different options.

### **If Your Office Doesn’t Run Internships**

BCG’s Australian and New Zealand offices hire only full-time Associates, with applications open year-round and two interview campaigns, typically in February to March and April to May. Nairobi has no Visiting Associate role, but undergraduates can apply to its March or October graduate programme.

In both cases, the full-time Associate role is your route in. You can also intern in another office, but only where you speak the language and have a real reason to work there: Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the Nordic offices all say your connection to the country must be clear.

## **BCG Internship Salary: What Interns Earn**

BCG publishes pay only in its US job postings, as a first-year base salary. Here is what the current postings say, with the summer math.

| Role | Base listed in BCG’s US posting | Per week | 10-week summer |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **MBA Consultant intern** | $200,000 | About $3,850 | About $38,500 |
| **Inverto Summer Associate** (procurement) | From $105,000 | From about $2,020 | From about $20,200 |
| **BCG X Forward Deployed AI intern** | $155,000 to $200,000, by level | About $2,980 to $3,850 | About $29,800 to $38,500 |
| *Full-time Associate, for comparison* | *$120,000 (from January 1, 2027)* | | |
| *Full-time Consultant, for comparison* | *$200,000 (from January 1, 2027)* | | |

*Source: BCG’s US postings for the [MBA internship](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/job/58498/Consultant-Internship-MBA-United-States), Inverto, BCG X, and full-time Associate and Consultant roles, October 17, 2026. Weekly and 10-week figures are our arithmetic (base ÷ 52 × weeks), before tax, and assume BCG pays the listed base pro rata.*

The undergraduate Summer Associate posting closed with the summer 2027 cycle, so we couldn’t confirm its rate on BCG’s site. If BCG prices it the way it prices the MBA internship, at the full-time base, a 10-week summer at the $120,000 Associate rate would come to about $23,100 before tax. Treat that as an estimate until the next posting goes up.

### **How BCG Intern Pay Compares to McKinsey and Bain**

| Firm | Undergraduate intern (annual rate) | MBA intern (annual rate) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **BCG** | Not posted this cycle | $200,000 |
| **McKinsey** | $108,000 | $189,000 |
| **Bain** | $108,000 ($9,000 a month) | $192,000 ($16,000 a month) |

*Source: each firm’s US postings, October 2026, as summarized in our [McKinsey internship guide](https://strategycase.com/mckinsey-internship/) and [Bain internship guide](https://strategycase.com/bain-internship/). Bain’s annual rates are our arithmetic.*

On paper, BCG’s MBA internship pays the most of the three, and it’s listed at exactly the full-time Consultant base. Bain’s MBA interns, by comparison, earn about 96% of its first-year Consultant base. The MBA posting also repeats BCG’s full-time benefits text, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, so ask your recruiter which parts apply to a summer.

Outside the US, BCG doesn’t publish intern pay. The Nordic offices state that the internship is paid, and BCG’s FAQ says your recruiter can give you the current figure once you’ve applied. For pay at every level after the internship, see our [BCG salary guide](https://strategycase.com/bcg-boston-consulting-group-hierarchy-and-salary-data/).

## **The BCG Internship Application and Interview Process**

BCG’s [interview process page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/interview-process) gives the global outline: the application, a skills interview about your experience and motivation, a case interview, and a team interview. For interns, the details vary by office. Here is what BCG publishes for each step.

### **Step 1: Apply and Rank Your Offices**

You apply online through your BCG profile, and the office choice drives most of what follows.

- **Office preferences:** you name your top two offices, and they must match across every application. As a student you can hold up to four open applications at once (BCG recommends three), but only one office can move you forward, in the order you ranked them.
- **Documents:** US offices want a resume and don’t require a cover letter. Switzerland asks for high school, bachelor’s, and master’s transcripts plus a cover letter and references, and Amsterdam asks for your high school transcripts too. Johannesburg wants your matric certificate and every university transcript.
- **Language:** German at C1 for Germany and Austria, French for Paris, French or Dutch for Brussels. London, the US, the Nordic offices, and the Middle East require only English.

Our [guide to BCG’s office locations](https://strategycase.com/bcg-office-locations/) helps you compare offices before you rank them.

### **Step 2: The Online Assessment**

Which test you take depends on your office and program:

- **US undergraduates:** the Consulting Career Assessment (CCA), sent 30 to 90 minutes after you apply. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes, and you have 48 hours to finish it. About two weeks after the deadline, a select group also gets BCG’s online case (about 35 minutes).
- **US MBA students:** the CCA if you applied to a US, Canadian, or Mexican office, plus the online case (about 40 minutes) for everyone except candidates whose first choice is a Canadian office.
- **Canada MBA and advanced degree:** the CCA arrives within 24 to 48 hours, and you have 24 hours to complete it.
- **London:** a short numerical assessment, then a final CV review before the first round.
- **Nordic offices:** a logical reasoning test of 80 questions in 30 minutes, with no calculator.
- **Amsterdam and Paris:** a reasoning test with data, graphs, and calculations (Amsterdam), or a test of logical, numerical, and verbal reasoning (Paris).

Our [BCG online assessment guide](https://strategycase.com/bcg-online-assessment/) explains how to tell which test you’ll get, and the [CCA guide](https://strategycase.com/bcg-consulting-career-assessment/) and [BCG online case guide](https://strategycase.com/bcgs-online-case/) cover the two US formats.

### **Step 3: The First Round**

BCG Amsterdam runs two 60-minute case interviews in the first round. The Nordic offices also run two cases, which BCG calls blind interviews, with a personal fit assessment folded in. London describes case-based discussions with senior members of its consulting team.

BCG’s [case interview preparation page](https://careers.bcg.com/global/en/case-interview-preparation) says there isn’t always a single right answer, and that what matters most is how you approach the problem and “the quality of your reasoning.” Our [BCG case interview guide](https://strategycase.com/bcg-case-interview/) shows what that looks like in practice.

The interviewer is deciding whether you could take a piece of a client problem after a short training and run with it. So don’t expect an easier version of the full-time case.

### **Step 4: The Final Round**

The final round is longer and more senior:

- **Amsterdam:** a 45-minute personality-based interview with a recruiter, two 60-minute case interviews, and a 2.5-hour written case.
- **Nordic offices:** one case interview with a BCG Partner.
- **Paris:** three rounds in total, with the written case only for end-of-studies internships. Project Leaders or Associate Directors with at least five to six years of experience run the interviews.

If your office adds a written case, our [written case interview guide](https://strategycase.com/how-to-crack-written-case-interviews/) covers the format. Fit runs through every round: BCG lists integrity, intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, a collaborative mindset, and drive as what its interviewers look for. Our [BCG fit interview guide](https://strategycase.com/bcg-fit-interview/) covers the questions.

Three skills decide most of these rounds, and all three can be trained: structuring a problem you haven’t seen before, reading an exhibit for what it actually says, and doing the math cleanly under time pressure. The StrategyCase [Case Interview Academy](https://strategycase.com/case-interview-academy/) teaches each one through video lessons and thousands of practice drills.

## **How Hard Is It to Get a BCG Internship?**

Hard. BCG publishes no acceptance rate, so any exact percentage you see online is an estimate.

Most applicants are filtered out before anyone runs a case with them, at the resume screen and the online assessment. Once you reach the case rounds, the odds improve a lot. My estimate, explained in our [case interview success rates by firm](https://strategycase.com/case-interview-success-rate-by-firm-mbb-tier-2-big-4/), is that roughly 10 to 15% of candidates who reach BCG’s case rounds receive an offer, and about 1% of all applicants do. BCG invites slightly more candidates to interview than McKinsey does, but the bar in the room is just as high.

Grades are read early. BCG’s FAQ asks students for strong academic performance throughout their studies. London asks for a predicted 2:1 or better, and Johannesburg sets a 68% university average plus 65% in high school Pure Mathematics. At US schools, our [GPA guide for MBB](https://strategycase.com/gpa-for-mckinsey-bcg-bain-top-consulting-firms/) puts BCG’s competitive range at 3.7 or higher, with a practical floor around 3.5.

Three things move your odds at BCG specifically:

- **Timing.** Apply in the first US window, or early in a rolling office’s year, before start dates fill.
- **Office fit.** Apply where you speak the language and have a real connection, since only one office can move you forward.
- **Readiness on day one.** The online test arrives within hours of applying, so a weak first attempt can end the process before any interview.

## **How to Get a BCG Internship: 5 Steps**

![Five steps to get a BCG internship: choose your office, build connections, strengthen your resume, prepare for the assessment, and develop case interview skills.](https://strategycase.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/How-to-Get-a-BCG-Internship-683x1024.png)

### **1. Choose Your Office Before Your Program**

Your office decides your program, your calendar, your language requirement, and where a full-time offer would be. BCG says transferring an accepted offer to another office is rare and usually means restarting the process with that office. So apply where you’d want to work full-time.

### **2. Get on BCG’s Radar Early**

BCG Launch, BCG Advance, OneDay@BCG, and campus events exist so you meet the firm before you apply. Use them, along with coffee chats with BCG consultants from your school. A referral from someone who knows your work also helps, so here’s [how to earn a referral at McKinsey, BCG, or Bain](https://strategycase.com/how-to-get-a-referral-for-mckinsey-bcg-bain/) without being transactional.

### **3. Make Your Resume Do the Work**

US offices don’t require a cover letter, so your one-page resume carries the whole application. Lead each line with a measurable result, keep your grades and test scores visible, and show leadership with an outcome attached. Our [consulting resume guide](https://strategycase.com/consulting-resume/) covers the format BCG’s screeners expect.

### **4. Be Test-Ready Before You Click Submit**

At most firms you apply and then prepare for the test. At BCG in the US, the CCA invitation arrives 30 to 90 minutes after you submit, and the 48-hour clock starts then. Do a timed practice set in the week before you apply, and keep the two days after submitting free.

### **5. Build the Skills Before You Grind Cases**

The usual advice is to do 50 practice cases. For a sophomore with a June deadline, that’s the wrong target. BCG’s own case prep page says there isn’t always a single right answer, so memorizing a framework for each case type won’t carry you.

In my coaching, the candidates who stall have usually done plenty of cases. What they can’t do yet is structure a problem they’ve never seen and commit to a view with incomplete data. Build those skills first, then use practice cases to test them in BCG’s format, and prepare three or four true stories for the fit questions.

## **Do BCG Interns Get Full-Time Offers?**

Many do, and BCG describes internships as “a common pathway” into full-time consulting. The mechanics differ by office:

- **London:** interns are evaluated for a full-time graduate offer at the end of the eight weeks.
- **Germany and Austria:** strong interns can join BCG’s FAST FORWARD retention program, which includes an offer to join full-time.
- **Denmark:** interns may be offered a full-time role to start after they finish their studies.
- **BCG X (US):** the internship is evaluative, and a full-time offer can be for a different office than your summer hub.

BCG publishes no conversion rate, so treat any figure you see online as a guess. The decision usually comes down to whether your team would want you on its next case, which rests on the quality of your piece of the work and how fast you act on feedback. For how conversion works across MBB, see our guide to [consulting internship vs. full-time applications](https://strategycase.com/consulting-internship-vs-full-time-application/).

### **If You Don’t Get the Internship**

A rejection doesn’t end your BCG candidacy. BCG generally asks candidates to wait at least 12 months before reapplying to the same office, but it makes an exception for unsuccessful summer internship candidates applying for full-time roles. A rejection from London also doesn’t stop other BCG offices from considering you. For each firm’s waiting rules, see our guide to the [ban period in consulting applications](https://strategycase.com/ban-period-in-consulting-applications/).

## **Frequently Asked Questions**

### **How much do BCG interns get paid?**

In the US, BCG’s MBA internship posting lists a $200,000 base, the same as a first-year Consultant, which works out to about $38,500 over a 10-week summer. BCG’s undergraduate Summer Associate posting has closed for the cycle; for comparison, BCG’s full-time Associate base is $120,000. BCG doesn’t publish intern pay outside the US.

### **What is the BCG internship acceptance rate?**

BCG doesn’t publish one. Most applicants are cut at the resume screen and the online assessment. Among candidates who reach BCG’s case rounds, I estimate roughly 10 to 15% receive an offer, and about 1% of all applicants do.

### **When is the BCG internship deadline for summer 2027?**

It depends on your office. US undergraduates are past it (June 2, 2026). The US MBA deadline is November 10, 2026, and BCG X’s US internship closes November 17, 2026. London takes applications from January 1 to 24, 2027, Johannesburg closes January 31, 2027, and Lisbon February 28, 2027. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Nordics, and Amsterdam hire year-round.

### **When do BCG internship applications open?**

In the US, BCG tells undergraduates to check its Associate page in mid-spring, and the summer 2027 deadline fell on June 2, 2026. Canadian offices usually take undergraduate internship applications in September. In London, the window opens January 1, and most European offices accept applications all year.

### **Is a BCG internship prestigious?**

Yes. BCG is one of the three MBB strategy firms, alongside McKinsey and Bain, and a BCG internship carries that name on your resume. The practical value is bigger than the name, though: BCG evaluates its interns for full-time offers, so the internship is often the shortest route to a job at the firm.

### **Can PhD, MD, or JD students intern at BCG?**

Not in the US: BCG’s US offices don’t offer internships to advanced-degree candidates. They can apply for full-time consultant roles, or intern through BCG’s Canadian offices (deadline November 10, 2026), Greater China (November 10, 2026), or Seoul (summer 2027, rolling).

## **The Bottom Line**

A BCG internship is the main way into the firm for students, but the program, the calendar, and even whether an internship exists depend on the office you choose. Pick the office first, find its window in the tables above, and be ready for the online assessment on the day you apply, because at BCG it can arrive within the hour. After that, the case rounds reward the quality of your reasoning far more than the number of cases you’ve done.
